‘Universal and accessible for everyone.’
We absolutely adore Dua Lipa and so it pains us to write that her new clothing range, or rather what she’s said about it, is totally wide of the mark.
The singer announced this week that she was releasing her capsule collection with /Nyden, a sister brand to H&M.
My loves, I have some news for you. I’ve started designing a capsule collection with @WeAreNyden and i’m bringing 4 drops with the first one coming out this fall. I’m so excited for you to see these CANT WAIT! Love you xxx pic.twitter.com/dOuzsVXpZh

“I’m so excited for you to see these, can’t wait!” she wrote on Twitter.
Speaking to Vogue UK, she said that it was “exciting” to design her own clothes.
“I look for clothes that reflect strength and fearlessness, but also match up to today’s fast pace.
“So I’m excited to be co-creating with /Nyden on my designs – it’s going to be a collection that’s completely suited to me, both onstage and off, and for my fans.”
The news generated excitement from followers who wanted to know all about the range, including whether it would be inclusive.
Yes what ive wanted to do with this collection is so that its universal and accessible for everyone. https://t.co/2CUqVLCqHS

In a tweet she’s since deleted, Dua told followers that the range would go up to a UK size 16 – not exactly universal or accessible.
A number of followers criticised her for not catering to plus-size women.
More fool you, the UK Plus Size clothing market is out performing the straight size market, and is worth 6.6 BILLION, which you will be getting no part of because you couldn’t be bothered to actually make an inclusive range *shrug*.

Okay but if there’s no plus sizes it’s not universally accessible???????

Unless you’re revolutionising the standard UK clothing sizes and thus redefining “for everyone”, you miiiiight want to dial down on the self-congratulating there, @DUALIPA https://t.co/wfEutPLSbC

That’s the bottom end of plus size. You have fans that are bigger than a size 16, they should be catered for as well. I love you, but bigger people shouldn’t be penalised and they deserve their sizes to be included

Dua has yet to respond to the criticism.
