The Irish Economy
We appear to be at the tail end of the recession and that is quite exciting. But this isn’t without its worries. Can we truly sustain a competitive and comfortable economy after the financial troubles we’ve been through? Only time will tell. “Yeah I’m worried”, Kim probably said. “Same”, said Amber.
You’re A Star
The two were probably massive fans of the hit show and a hot topic of conversation would inevitably surround the whereabouts of the contestants now. “I loved 21 Demands. I wonder where they are now?”, Kim probably said. “Same”, said Amber.
Antibiotic Resistance
It has emerged that humanity is becoming resistant to the power of antibiotics. This threatens the treatment of infections which are caused by the presence of highly-resistant bacteria. Untreatable diseases could become widespread and wipe out the whole of humanity. “Yeah it’s scary”, Kim probably said. “So scary”, said Amber.
Diversity In Hollywood
As proven by this year’s Oscar nominations, there is a distinct lack of diversity in Hollywood at the moment. The biggest issue is whether the roles aren’t being written or the productions aren’t getting the attention they deserve. “Yeah it’s getting really bad”, Kim probably said. “Yeah”, said Amber.
Gluten
Gluten intolerance is a very real and debilitating condition. It affects less than 1% of the population of the United States, yet sales for coeliac-friendly food are soaring. Why are people without a gluten intolerance adopting a gluten-free lifestyle? “Yeah it’s crazy”, Kim probably said. “Yeah”, said Amber.
The Ongoing Migrant Crisis
Jordan (the country, not the lady) is the latest to seek help with the migrant crisis and has requested long-term aid from overseas to alleviate the pressures put on them due to the recent arrival of over 600,000 Syrian refugees. Pressures which include social services being stretched to their limit and regional stability being threatened. “Ugh it’s awful”, Kim probably said. “So bad”, said Amber.
Changes To The Leaving Certificate Curriculum
It has been announced that the introduction of another Leaving Certificate subject will come into effect from September. Students will now have the option of studying Politics and Society, which, loosely translated, will surround the areas of politics and society. “Oh that’s good”, Kim probably said. “Yeah”, said Amber”.
The Longevity Of Jacob Tremblay’s Career
This adorable child stars in The Room and frankly deserved an Oscar nomination this year. He is a very talented actor, regardless of the fact that he is just nine years old. The girls probably expressed concerns as to whether he would stay grounded and humble throughout what is sure to be a lengthy and successful career. “I hope so”, Kim probably said. “Yeah”, said Amber.
