Ronan is very surprised.

Ronan Keating has admitted that he is worried about his son Jack during his Love Island stint after noticing how quiet he is on screen.

The Boyzone star spoke about the 23 year old’s appearance in Casa Amor on BBC’s The One Show.

Speaking to hosts Alex and Jermaine, Ronan said: “He’s been on the shortlist for about six weeks now. We ‘ve known he could have been going in. It was a week before the announcement and he said ‘I’m flying to Spain tomorrow.’

“I’m a mess. I’m an absolute mess.”

The 45 year old dad of five went on to say that he has been surprised by Jack on the show, and noted how he has been very quiet during his time there.

He continued: “He was very quiet, he seemed a little bit nervous which is understandable I guess.

“I hope he does okay. He’s got such a big heart and he’s a real softie. I worry about him in there with all those other guys.

“I said ‘be yourself and have a good time.’ The bottom line is to be you. I hope people will see that and warm to him. He’s my boy, I want to look after him.”

Recalling the moment Jack mentioned him on Love Island while talking to Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma, he said he nearly fell off his chair when Jack said his dad had retired.

He said: “He did drop the line that I was retired. I fell off my chair. I’m doing The One Show next week. I’m in York tonight. I’m definitely not retired.”

Jack is Ronan’s eldest child, who he welcomed with ex-wife Yvonne Connolly back in 1999. The two share two other children, Missy and Ali as well as Ronan sharing his two children with his second wife Storm Keating, Cooper and Coco.
