Everyone loves a good wedding – and these are some of 2014’s best.
From two of Hollywood’s hottest men, to the most talked about reality TV star on the planet, many high profile names tied the knot over the past 12 months. Here, we look back at some of the most notable, with one Irish wedding in there for good measure.
Solange and Alan Ferguson. Beyoncé’s little sister proved again why she’s considered the cool one with her amazingly quirky ceremony in November. The 28-year-old tied the knot with her 51-year-old video director partner Alan Ferguson in New Orleans, arriving to the church side by side with her beau on matching bikes and sporting a stunning jumpsuit. For the ceremony itself, she changed into a cape dress we’ve been swooning over since.
Cheryl and Jean-Bernard Versini. X Factor judge Cheryl got quite the jump on the world’s press when she announced her second marriage via Instagram. The former Girls Aloud singer wed Jean-Bernard Versini after a whirlwind three-month courtship, swapping vows in a Caribbean ceremony before snapping a picture of her new rock to share with fans.
Adam Brody and Leighton Meester. Seth and Blair forever! Our teen drama-loving hearts skipped a beat when the Upper East Side princess married her California nerd next door. Oranges costars Brody and Meester wed this year after a low-key courtship and November 2013 engagement.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. 2014 – the year of Kimye? The rapper and his reality star darling said “I do” in an extravagant Florence ceremony in May of this year. With a rehearsal in Paris and a honeymoon in Ireland, the American duo hit up Europe for a dose of reality romance.
Rosanna Davison and Wesley Quirke. Well we had to have one Irish wedding on the list. Rosanna made the grade ahead of Jennifer Maguire, Glenda Gilson and others simply because in true celeb style one wedding wasn’t enough… she had three! The former Miss World wed her long-term love in an official ceremony before heading off for an Ibiza bash, finishing off with another party for friends and family in Co. Wicklow for good measure.
Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka. One of our favourites from the year that was. The How I Met Your Mother star and his other half said I do in Italy back in September, and have you ever seen two happier faces? Sir Elton John, who introduced the couple, performed at the ceremony as the pair’s twins Gideon and Harper watched.
George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin. He was dubbed Hollywood’s hottest bachelor more times than we care to count but single days are now over for leading man George Clooney. The star was swept off his feet by stunning Human Rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin, and the pair sealed the deal with an Italian wedding in September, flanked by celebrity pals.
Scarlett Johansson and Romain Dauraic. Scar-Jo was another lady who managed to keep her private life under wraps this year, with news only breaking in early December that she had wed two months earlier. The Avengers actress tied the knot with her journalist beau on October 1st in Montana, shortly after the birth of the couple’s daughter.
Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo. The singer previously named Sexiest Man Alive locked it down with stunning model Behati in July. Levine, 35, and Prinsloo, 25, swapped vows during a stay in celebrity haven Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. In the strangest tidbit about the day, actor Jonah Hill officiated.
