Anyone who tuned in for the return of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! last night will know it’s not easy to be Gemma Collins these days.
Unfortunately, it’s not easy to be Gemma Collis either.
The former is of course the TOWIE star who entered the jungle this year. The latter is a Paralympian athlete who has nothing to do with the ITV show, but who is currently fending off a barrage of abuse on social media simply due to her similar name.
Twitter users have confused Paralympian athlete Collis (main image) with TOWIE star Collins (above)
Collis has been the victim of Twitter trolls who are actually targeting the reality TV star, not realising they’re using the wrong handle and directing slurs at the 19-year-old Wheelchair Basketball Player and Wheelchair Fencer.
Collis took to her account last night to address the jibes and responded directly to some of the nastier comments, many of which centred on Collins’ weight.
Oh god, it’s started already… My name is Gemma COLLIS, I’m an athlete & not @missgemcollins from #TOWIE! So PLEASE stop tweeting me abuse!
