Fitting words after an historic journey.
Courtney Brosnan got her fair share of attention after a fantastic clean sheet, but much of the post-match focus was on Vera Pauw and Katie McCabe.
Ireland drew 0-0 with Nigeria to take home their first ever World Cup point, even though they are now heading for home. Brosnan pulled off a stunning save, in the second half, and was flawless in nets for Ireland. She spoke with RTÉ after the match and lifted the lid on the final World Cup huddle for this side.
“Vera and Katie just said that were just really proud to be here and playing for our country. We’re proud to be here.
“Obviously, we put in performances and grew, and we held our own against three tough, tough teams. Everyone is really proud of that.
“The disappointment just shows that we deserve to be here, and we’re going to keep moving on. It’s definitely not the last time you’ll see Ireland here.”

Vera Pauw not pressed on her future again
Tony O’Donoghue had asked Vera Pauw about her future as Ireland manager, on Sunday, but did not repeat the query before or after the match.
The Dutch woman is out of contract and wants to continue in her job but there appears to be a hold up on the FAI’s side.
