People believe Gypsy Rose Blanchard never should’ve been sent to prison

Gypsy Rose Blanchard will be released from prison after seven years.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is set to be released from prison this December, but many believe she never should have been sent to jail. Blanchard was sentenced to 10 years in prison after the murder of her mother Dee Dee.

Her mother Clauddine ‘Dee Dee’ Blanchard emotionally and physically abused her daughter for years. It is believed Dee Dee had Munchausen by proxy syndrome.

Gypsy Rose and her boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn plotted her murder, but Gypsy Rose was only sentenced to 10 years in prison. It is understood that she hid in the bathroom when Nicholas Godejohn stabbed her mother to death.

Before her death, Dee Dee claimed her daughter had multiple medical issues including leukemia, muscular dystrophy, as well as asthma.

Her mother was found dead at their home in 2015. Following the discovery of her mother’s body, police arrested Gypsy Rose as well as her boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn.

Gypsy Rose pled guilty to the second-degree murder of her mother Clauddine ‘Dee Dee’ Blanchard in 2015. However, her supporters said she faced enough emotional turmoil during her childhood and she never should’ve been imprisoned.

One said: “She needed help, not prison time. She was failed by every adult in her life.”

Another added: “This girl has suffered a lot her whole life. I hope she will be able to have a better life once she’s free from prison.”

A third shared: “Good morning, gypsy rose never deserved to go to jail. She should’ve gone to a rehab/mental health facility.”

Missouri’s Department of Corrections has confirmed she will be released from prison on December 28th.

Nicholas Godejohn will serve a life sentence for the murder of Clauddine ‘Dee Dee’ Blanchard.
