“Days when life is ours to live and all it ever did was give.”
The lyrics of Anderson’s History, from his debut album Patterns (Buy here), reflect the thrust of the album which he has described as a reflection on the fact that life keeps moving.
The words have a poignant symmetry with his own story.
In his late teens he scored a major Campbell’s Soup deal with his band The Rags, resulting in an annual salary – something so elusive in the music industry.
Now, at 34, the independent artist’s first solo offering is making waves, nothing’s been handed to him in a soup bowl – he flogged Patterns door-to-door in the areas around his hometown Finglas.
This commitment has paid off, he sold 500 records and the gigs are rolling in – including an appearance on the Late Late Show.
He plays Roisin Dubh on November 27th and the Button Factory on December 9th, tickets available here.
He joined us in Whelans for an amazing Sunday Sessions – he played History and a cover of Bob Dylan’s Just Like a Woman.
