Police are now considering an overdose as the cause of Prince’s death

The Associated Press are reporting that investigators are looking into whether Prince died from a drug overdose.

Police are also understood to be investigating whether a doctor was involved in terms of prescribing him drugs in the weeks prior to his untimely passing ages 57 last week.

They are currently running checks to see whether a doctor was on a plane that made an emergency landing a week before Prince passed, and examining what kind of drugs were on the plane and in Prince’s Paisley Park estate at the time he died on April 21st.

CNN report that there were opioid drugs found at his home, and investigators have brought in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration to help with the case.

There is no indication so far that Prince had a valid prescription for the medicine.

It is reported that the drug in question is the painkiller Percocet, which Prince was apparently taking for a hip

L Londell McMillan, Prince’s attorney has denied that the singer died of a drug overdose, insisting that he was “not on any drugs that would be any cause for concern.”

“People use medication,” he added. “The question is, are you on meds in a dangerous way?”
