To find out where these special moments are taking place, Marlow’s Diamonds examined average monthly Google searches during the November and December, which has given some insight into the trends shaping this year’s holiday proposals.
Paris
The City of Love, of course, tops the list with 390 average monthly searches in the UK. Whether its the ambience, charming streets, or the iconic landmarks, it’s a top pick for many planning to become a fiancé or fiancé.
New York
With 260 searches, New York City lands itself in second when it comes to engagement destinations for people in the UK. The city becomes a Christmas vision when it’s blanketed in snow, making it a festive and charming location to bend the knee. With hotspots such as Central Park and Times Square, New York is justified in its proposal popularity.
Lake Como
This is not one I would have imagined on the list for this time of year, I’ll be honest. Not because it isn’t breathtakingly beautiful, but it just doesn’t scream ‘Christmas’. How wrong was I?
With one Google search, I found out why 170 people searched the same. Villages throughout this Italian region embrace the season with gorgeous markets and magical illuminations. With the added pull of warmer weather, it’s a unique and stunning spot to say ‘Yes’ in.
London
Despite living in the UK, 160 monthly searches in the country were related to proposing in its capital. If you have ever visited London during the Christmas holidays, you’ll likely understand why. The city glows during this season, with bustling streets, music and festive lights everywhere you turn.
With endless options spots to pop the question in – from Big Ben to the London Eye.
Iceland
The complete the top five, Iceland accounts for 140 searches to do with proposals abroad. Imagine being asked to marry your love under the Northern Lights? The stunning landscape serves as a romantic and unforgettable backdrop to the beginning of your engagement journey.
