Two 90-year-old sisters have died within days of each other it has been reported this week.

Christine Carter and Avice Burden were described as “inseparable” and “totally devoted”.

The pair shared a love of dancing and travelling.

Christine died in a Birmingham hospital at the end of December, while Avice passed away just a few days later in January.

“It was time for them,” said their other sister Janet Cole. “It was right. One could not live without the other.”

The two had been inseparable since 1943 when Avice’s father married Christine’s mother.

“Although they never married, there were opportunities. I can remember boyfriends, but I think they were scared of losing their independence.

“Christine was trying to look after her (Avice) with help, and it was not working.”

It is reported that Christine went to hospital following a fall, while Avice was admitted just three days later. Her condition reportedly deteriorated following the news of Christine’s passing.
