This Belfast woman lost a very special doll and needs our help to find it

Can you help find Matilda?

Ellen Tannam

Everyone has objects that hold immense sentimental value, from jewellery given to you by a late family member, to a teddy you might have had since you were small.

Can you imagine the thought of losing something so important to you?

Well, that’s exactly what has happened to Claire Gray, husband Kristofer, and their young son Archie.

They came down from Belfast to visit Dublin Zoo to bring young Archie for the first time, and somewhere between the zoo shop, gate and Lord’s walk carpark they lost a special doll called Matilda.

Matilda is important to their family as they had a young daughter named Matilda who sadly passed away in 2013 at only three months old. She was given a doll with her name on it when she was born, and the family have been hugely comforted by the doll’s presence in their lives.

Grey wrote:

“She even came to hospital with me when Matilda’s baby brother Archie was born. She comes with us as a way of Matilda being with us for family photos, which are so painful after losing your child as she is always missing. She comes with us for all Matilda’s little brother Archie’s “firsts” such as first time at Santa. On Monday 30th May it was Archies first time at the zoo (Dublin) so of course we brought Matilda doll too as Matilda never actually got to go to the zoo which breaks my heart.”

We hope that they are reunited soon.
