This affordable hack warms up your pyjamas without using the heating

Kat O'Connor

This will heat your pyjamas in no time

The temperatures have dropped and I very nearly considered wearing my pyjamas to the office today. It’s freezing cold outside and I am looking (and feeling) more and more like Jack Nicholson at the end of ‘The Shining’.

Watching Lorelai Gilmore walk through Stars Hollow in the snow sure looks pretty, but you know what isn’t nice? Walking to your bus stop in sludgy snow and struggling to hold yourself up. Snow and Ireland are not the perfect match and I’d happily hibernate until the sub-zero temperatures go away.

Putting on your pyjamas after that long walk from the bus stop to your house is one of the best feelings. I often leave mine on the radiator so I can defrost a little after being outside, but central heating is not cheap.

One thing you can do to save a few bob is wrapping your pyjamas in a hot water bottle.

You don’t need to use the central heating and you can curl up in a ball with your hot water bottle and extra warm pyjamas after.

It’s a win-win!

With temperatures set to drop even further, I’ll be making the most of this affordable hack.

Met Éireann has issued a low temperature and ice warning for the entire country so I’ll be staying in for the foreseeable future.

They warned: “Arctic air will bring winter hazards this coming week. Sharp to severe frosts are expected with icy stretches on roads and pavements. Some sleet or snow will occur at times too, mostly for northern areas, and especially for hills.”

As my Nanny would say, it’s a night for the fire!
