Following last night’s shocking news that young Peaches Geldof had passed away at just 25 years of age, the tributes have been pouring in for the young woman along with words of support for her family.

President Higgins is the latest public figure to offer his condolences to Bob Geldof and his family. The President, who was due to meet Geldof on his State Visit, has expressed his sorrow at the death of Peaches.

The following statement was issued by the President from Windsor this morning, according to RTE News.

“I extend my deepest sympathies to Bob Geldof and his family on the sudden and untimely death of his daughter Peaches,” he said.

“This is such a difficult cross to bear for any family and all of our thoughts are with Peaches’ family and friends at this time.

“Sabina and I were due to meet Bob Geldof while on the State visit and we are thinking of him at this time of immense loss,” the statement added.

A post mortem examination is expected to be carried out over the next few days but the police in Kent are treating the death as non-suspicious.

Last night, Bob Geldof issued a statement telling of his heartbreak at the death of his daughter. A statement was also issued by her husband, Tom Cohen.
