Katie Piper is truly one of the most inspirational women in media spotlight and a role model that females all over the globe can look up to.

Piper was just 24 when her ex-boyfriend paid a man to throw industrial-strength sulphuric acid in her face.

In a column posted on the Daily Mail shortly after the incident occurred, Piper wrote: “In the aftermath, I was horrified by my own reflection, barely recognising the image of myself in the mirror. I would play back memories of all the relationships I’d ever had, trying to ingrain in my mind what it felt like to hold hands, to kiss.

“I was sure I’d never be attractive to anyone again, never be intimate. Never be loved”, she continued.

On Monday, the Embarrassing Bodies presenter took to her Instagram account to tell fans that she is “proud to be a survivor”.

31-year-old Piper, who is now engaged to partner James and a mum-of-one, also asked anyone who has ever faced adversity and overcome it to share their story with her via her website.

“Even in our darkest times things truly can get better. For everyone who feels like they are stuck in a dark place- please keep the faith”, she captioned the first post.

The TV presenter shared a second image photograph, revealing that her scars no longer cause her any hurt.

“When I look in the mirror my scars no longer upset me, they just remind me I am stronger than the person who tried to hurt. We all have scars whether they are on the skin or the soul. Remember only those who survive wear scars. Next time you look in the mirror repeat to yourself I’m proud to be a survivor”.
