A miracle? Or a Sister Act?

It must be a miracle…

In the strangest headline you’re likely to see this week, a Salvadoran nun has given birth in Italy and claimed she had no idea she was expecting.

Thirty-one year old nun Rixana Rodriguez, of the “Little Disciples of Jesus” was in her convent in Campomoro, Italy, when she felt stomach cramps and was rushed to a hospital in the nearby city of Rieti. When doctors enquired about a possible pregnancy, she allegedly replied; “It’s not possible, I’m a nun.” She later gave birth to a baby boy.

The nun and new mum named her surprise son Francesco, after the current Pope.

Fellow sisters at Rodriguez’ convent said they were “very surprised” to hear the news. The convent’s mother superior, Sister Erminia, said; “It seems she was not able to resist temptation”, while a spokesman for the local bishop was quoted as saying; “It would be preferable that she now lead a secular life with her baby, away from religious institutions.”
