So many fantastic British nominees. Wish we had talent like that in Ireland. Oh wait…
Only last week there was war after a Sky News reporter mistakenly claimed Saoirse Ronan as British when listing the Brits nominated for The Golden Globes.
The Irish have played a blinder this year in TV & film, and this is reflected in today’s list of Oscar nominees, with Saoirse Ronan, Michael Fassbender, Lenny Abrahamson and Emma Donoghue all getting a nod.
However, yet again, the Brits aren’t letting us have it.
Earlier today, The Metro included Saoirse Ronan and Michael Fassbender in a list of Brits nominated, although they have since been deleted.
The morons at @MetroUK think Saoirse Ronan and Michael Fassbender are British! https://t.co/LWiKMcyO2S

Then, obviously forgetting about last week’s furore, Sky News went ahead and listed Michael Fassbender as a British nominee.
#SkyNews doing rundown of #Oscars nominated British actors, Michael Fassbender included, which part of Britain is Fossa, Co. Kerry again??

The BFI were also apparently confused.
The BBC were also somewhat perplexed.
