It seems like there’s about to be a few broken hearts in Summer Bay, with two relationships set to hit the rocks in upcoming storylines.
Oscar MacGuire is set to make a pretty big decision to end his relationship with Maddy Osborne when he find his support to his sick girlfriend knocks his concentration in school.
Despite wanting to stick by Maddy while she receives treatment for cancer, Oscar will decide he can no longer continue with their relationship after his school work starts slipping.
When Zac points out to Oscar that looking after Maddy is having a negative impact on his studies, Oscar starts to reconsider his decision to stand by her.
Although Oscar is concerned about ending his relationship with vulnerable Maddy, he eventually realises he can’t lie to her about his feelings and tells her it’s over.
Long distance takes its toll in another relationship in the Bay, when Matt Page realises that his and Sasha’s relationship isn’t working.
While the couple were already struggling with the strain of being separated, things come to ahead when Matt is banned from Sasha’s dorm room and the couple are restricted to seeing each other only when Sasha can make a trip back to Summer Bay.
Although Sash offers to switch university, Matt decides to break-up with his girlfriend so she can focus on her future.
Alec Snow, who plays Matt in the show, told TV Week:
“Matt wants to be the strong one in the relationship. He also wants her to be the best she can. So he goes into self-sacrificing mode and ends things. It’s very sad.”
