Whether you love or loathe her, Love Island‘s Maura Higgins makes for great telly.
Her facial expressions, her accent, her foul mouth – Maura’s one of this year’s most fascinating Islanders.
But one person who is not loving her on the show is her former fiancé, James Finnegan.
Watching an ex on Love Island is probably fairly weird anyway but James really isn’t into it.
He has said his ex-girlfriend is “playing a game” for attention.
“Maura wants to be famous and she is very ambitious and determined,” he told the Sun on Sunday.
The Maura we’ve seen on our screens isn’t the Maura he knows, he continued.
“For me, she is putting on an act. I haven’t watched the scene where she was hitting on Tommy Fury but she never did anything like that to me. I’m not even sure he’s her type.”
James, who started seeing Maura when she was 18, also can’t get over how much “bad language” she’s using and the fact that she’s into women as well as men.
“I did see the episode where she was talking about the lesbian thing with the other woman and that surprised me. It must have happened after we broke up because I don’t remember anything like that.
“She never expressed any interest in women when we were together.”
Not content with that, James added that Maura “will get a hard time” at home after the show.
“I think Maura is playing a game and trying to grab attention.
“But there is a lot of jealousy towards her here, with people bitching behind her back”

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media Two.
