‘I love you guys very differently’: Stormzy pays tribute to Irish fans after Longitude

It's all going great for Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr. right about now. Stormzy has enjoyed a meteoric rise in the last couple of years, and has built up a considerable Irish following in the process. Having conquered the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury last weekend, the 25-year-old set his sights on Longitude, having been drafted in as a late replacement for Chance the Rapper. Not a bad substitute at all, and so it proved as Stormzy, clad in an Ireland jersey, entered in another stellar performance as he headlined the festival for the second time. Now that the dust has settled, the man himself has paid tribute to his Irish fans. Taking to Twitter on Sunday, he thanked those who helped recent single 'Vossi Bop' achieve double platinum status in the country, while noting that he has a personal kinship with those who have supported him to date.

"Dublin I love you guys very differently," Stormzy began. "You lot hold a very special place in my heart since I first came here in 2016 (I think). "My first time headlining a festival was at Longitude 2017, you guys built me a fucking mural (massive love and respect to Subset), my album went #1 here, the only other country besides England where it went #1. "'Crown' just went into the top 10 here, you lot show me a different kind of love and energy every time I perform and to top it all off 'Vossi Bop' just went double platinum here. "Gonna do something special for you guys soon but this is just me saying I appreciate all the love and support."
