Well, this is a bit mad.
Corrie fans will be familiar with Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Jenny Bradley, and it turns out that she’s related to another famous actress who used to have a very prominent role on the soap.
Sally Ann recently appeared on Coronation Street’s DNA Secrets last night and found out that she is in fact related to Amanda Barrie, who played Alma Halliwell for a number of years.
As you can imagine, this news came as a major shock to both women who listened as presenter Nicky Campbell and genealogist Megan Owens revealed the news.
According to The Daily Star, Sally Anne and Amanda are distant cousins and apparently, they both have the name Ashworth in their family and are from the same location.
Although Jenny is a character on the soap at the moment, Alma last appeared in Corrie in 2001 but there was a crossover period in the early 90s where they both appeared on the Manchester-based soap at the same time.
When they got over the shock, both women were delighted with their new-found connection and this, in turn, delighted people watching at home.
They took to Twitter to share their delight and it’s all very cute altogether.
