Reese Witherspoon has confirmed ‘Big Little Lies’ is returning

Reese Witherspoon has shared the news we’ve all been waiting for, ‘Big Little Lies’ is returning for a third season.

After years off-screen, the HBO series is officially coming back and we couldn’t be happier about it.

Fans have been incredibly patient about the third installment, but we now have official confirmation that Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman are now working on the project.

Speaking at the Golden Globes on Sunday, ‘The Morning Show’ actress shared the exciting update.

“We are working on it. Nic [Nicole Kidman] and I have been working on it a lot,” she told Variety.

But what will happen in season three?

It’s been quite a while since we caught up with the group from Monterey, but the 2019 series saw the group struggle as they try to move on with their lives following Perry’s death.

At the end of the season, Celeste ends up with full custody of Max and Josh. Mary Louise leaves Monterey Bay following the ruling.

Bonnie tells Nathan she no longer loves him and ends their relationship at the end of season two.

Ed and Madeline decide to renew their vows after dealing with relationship issues for most of the season. Jane and Corey decide to take another step in their relationship but with Ziggy’s approval, of course.

The biggest moment from season two was probably Bonnie informing the Monterey Five that she was going to confess to the police that she killed Perry during trivia night. The last time we see the group is outside the police station as they accompany Bonnie.

Season three will likely focus on Bonnie’s future and whether she will be sent to prison for Perry’s death. It will also focus on the impact her confession will have on the other members of the Monterey Five.

Laura Dern, Nicole Kidman, Zoe Kravitz, Reese Witherspoon, and Shailene Woodley will reportedly return for season three.

Season three of Big Little Lies is still in the pre-production phase so it likely won’t return to our screens until 2025, six years after season two aired, but surely it’ll be worth the wait?
