Spotify launch reserved concert tickets for top listeners

Top fans will now be reserved two tickets for upcoming concerts

In an online statement explaining the new feature, Spotify said that buying tickets nowadays "can feel like a race you’re set up to lose."

"You show up at the right time, refresh endlessly, and still miss out. Too often, the experience is stressful, unpredictable, and disconnected from what should matter most: whether real fans actually get tickets."

"You show up for the artist, Spotify shows up for you. No added fees from Spotify, and more of an artist’s truest fans will end up in the crowd where it matters most."

How will Spotify 'Reserved' work?

With Reserved, Spotify will identify an artist’s top fans based on streams and shares, with extra monitoring to ensure tickets go to "real human fans and not bots".

If you’re one of an artist’s top fans, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase two tickets for an upcoming concert.

Once chosen, top listeners will be notified by email and will have a reserved window of around 24 hours to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the general public.

Fans can buy tickets for any show on tour, with the ability to select specific dates and seats at checkout.

The service is planned for an initial launch in the United States this summer, with more locations to follow.
