Lorraine Kelly has responded to claims she misgendered Sam Smith after they made an appearance at the Barbie premiere in London this week.

Lorraine Kelly has addressed claims she misgendered singer Sam Smith. The presenter was discussing the outfit the performer wore to the Barbie premiere on Wednesday night. The Stay With Me singer uses they/them pronouns and is non-binary. Smith's outfit was criticised because they were dressed so casually compared to other guests. They wore an oversized sweatshirt and flared jeans that covered their feet for the lavish event. Their outfit may not have been everyone's cup of tea, but we think they looked great. Lorraine Kelly was discussing the red carpet style at the Barbie premiere when she misgendered Smith multiple times. She said, "It’s a bit big for him. If he was my son, I’d be saying, ‘Son, that’s too big for you’… He’Kelly s going to stand out. He knows what he’s doing, does that fella." She also said her comments were not intentional but she will try to be better. "Fair comment. Not in the least intentional but will take on board – thanks for bringing it to my attention. Sam Smith came out as non-binary and gender-queer in 2019. They told fans their new pronouns were they/them. "After a lifetime of being at war with my gender, I’ve decided to embrace myself for who I am, inside and out. "I’m so excited and privileged to be surrounded by people that support me in this decision but I’ve been very nervous about announcing this because I care too much about what people think but fuck it!"
