Irish influencer Grace Mongey has spoken out against trolls after receiving some particularly cruel messages on social media.
The mum told her followers that she was shocked and reduced to tears after being targeted online.
Having such a large online following unfortunately does attract some trolls, but that doesn’t make it right. As Grace said, people are fighting their own battles so the last thing they need to deal with is online abuse.
She has since urged those who don’t like her to unfollow her rather than send horrid messages to her online.
Grace wrote, “I’m actually shocked at some of the DMs I’ve received today! I know things are said about me daily and I’ve learned not to let it affect me as much as it used to but today it really got the better of me!
“Please remember I am just a normal person, I am someone’s daughter, someone’s sister, someone’s wife, someone’s mother, someone’s friend!” she wrote.
The influencer added, “Would you want someone to talk about your loved one the way you talk about me?”
She stressed, “If you don’t like me, please just unfollow me, don’t feel like you have to tell me all the things you hate about me, I don’t need to hear it.”
Grace reminded people that everyone is fighting their own personal battles.
You never know what someone is going through in their own life. It’s easy for many of us to share snippets of our lives on Instagram and for everyone to assume your life is great, but sometimes it couldn’t be further from the truth.
Grace begged the trolls to leave her alone as the harmful messages started to impact her mentally.
“I don’t have the headspace for it right now and please remember I have a private life, I don’t share the majority of things that happen to me or those around me who I love.
“We are all fighting our own battles so please, don’t assume you know me from the small amount I share on the internet,” she concluded.
The influencer has been praised for bravely speaking out against the trolls who have been targeting her for years.
