This is a big deal.
The Queen has officially invited Meghan Markle’s mum, Doria Ragland, to Christmas dinner with the royal family.
Traditionally, the royal festive fun is held at Sandringham, one of the Queen’s official residences.
A royal source said that the move was “a very thoughtful gesture,” and quite unique to be honest.
This is a big move for the Queen, who has never even extended this invite to the Middleton family.
Queen Elizabeth has asked members of the Middleton family to attend Christmas mass, but never to dine in Sandringham.
So you see, a pretty amazing thing!
The source also said:
“It’s a mark of the Queen’s respect for Meghan and an acknowledgement that she doesn’t have any other relations in this country – unlike Kate who has the support of a very close family.”
It has been said the the Queen was very taken with Doria following the royal wedding.
She has remained respectful of the royal family and her daughter, unlike Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle.
