Cody Simpson confirms he and Miley Cyrus are official and ‘very happy’

Cody Simpson has confirmed he and Miley Cyrus' relationship is official - and that the two of them "are very, very happy."

The Aussie singer was speaking at the Tiffany & Co. Mens Launch, where he said it was "safe to say" things between them were official. Praising the "passionate" pop star, Simpson told PEOPLE why their relationship worked so well. He said:

“I’m very happy. We are very, very happy. “She’s creative. She’s very passionate about what she does, and I’m very similar in that sense. That’s why we get along so well. “We just have a ball, yeah, and that’s the most important part of a relationship, you know?"

Simpson and Cyrus were first romantically linked earlier this month after they were spotted kissing in Los Angeles. And the Aussie singer admitted his relationship with Cyrus was a "different experience" as they had been friends first. He said:

“The reason why it hasn’t been a really crazy sudden thing is just because we’ve been friends for so long."

The 22-year-old added that they had "found each other again" when they were in a space where they were "both not partying, working real hard, and it just keeps things healthy and it’s good.” He continued:

“Any girlfriends I’ve had in the past has always been immediate romance and so it’s a different experience having been friends with somebody before and it developing naturally into something more.”
