Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray’s feud explained after Grammy speech snub

Miley Cyrus won her first Grammy this weekend

Singer and former Disney star, Miley Cyrus was the queen of the night at this year’s Grammy Awards.

The ‘Flowers’ singer took home her first-ever Grammy for ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’ and later won the ‘Record of the Year’ award.

Her speech was as endearing and buzzy as you’d expect, but there was one person the singer didn’t mention, her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus.

Viewers were slightly puzzled by it, but there’s a reason Miley Cyrus didn’t mention Billy Ray at all.

The ‘Hannah Montana’ actress and her father have reportedly fallen out and the Cyrus family was left divided because of it.

Miley Cyrus won two Grammys on Sunday night

During her acceptance speech, Cyrus thanked “my mommy, my sister, my love, my main gays because look how good I look. I don’t think I forgot anyone. But I might have forgotten underwear. Bye!”

Her mother, Tish Cyrus, and older sister, Brandi Cyrus attended the ceremony, but the rest of their family was nowhere to be seen.

Following their parents’ divorce in 2022, the family reportedly divided, with Miley and Brandi taking their mother’s side. Both daughters attended their mother’s wedding to actor, Dominic Purcell in August 2023. On the same day of the wedding, Noah and Braison publically posted about a trip to Walmart, leading many to believe the family had fallen out.

Billy Ray Cyrus also remarried following his divorce from Tish.

However, his marriage to Australian musician, Firerose reportedly damaged his relationship with Miley Cyrus.

None of his children attended his wedding, but Miley also unfollowed her father on Instagram. According to reports, the singer fell out with her father following his divorce from her mother, Tish Cyrus.

Her acceptance speech may have raised eyebrows, but it also showed us just how strong and iconic Cyrus is. Her stellar career was finally recognised the way it should’ve been many years ago.

How ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ by Hannah Montana never won a Grammy is beyond me.
