In Ireland, Clare broke Biddy Early’s curse by finally winning an All-Ireland hurling championship, Mary Robinson was the Irish President and Bill Clinton, US President, paid a visit. We were also having a serious case of “notions” with the announcement of plans for a £200 million light rail system to be called “Luas”.
Across the Atlantic, America was falling hard and fast for the cast of a hot new TV show by the name of Friends. As the first port of call for ANY big entertainment interview, naturally Oprah Winfrey had the cast on her couch before anyone else.
Now, a recording of that fateful episode has made its way to YouTube, and it is nothing less than TV gold.
