What’s In My Beauty Bag – Rosee Byrne of Besos Beauty

Make-up obsessed? Right this way...

Cathy Donohue

Pretty packaging, hero products, must-have purchases…make-up is a subject we could spend hours chatting about.

Everyone has their tried and tested buys and in a bid to find out more about the best way to get bang for your buck, we decided it was time to call in a little expertise.

Beauty bloggers make it their business to trial run products and are up to date with the latest releases before they even hit the shelves.

In a new weekly feature, we’re going to quiz beauty bloggers on their make-up essentials and why these are the products they return to time and time again.

This week, we’re quizzing Rosee Byrne of Besos Beauty on her make-up must haves.

My collection of makeup, cosmetics, hair and skincare products, and beauty tools is becoming a little bit intense. This is why I keep a sane sized beauty bag at hand to store the absolute holy grail products (which I would use religiously).

The Beauty Bag

So this is the beauty bag I keep in my handbag. It’s from Lancôme, with a gold shimmer exterior and lined with baby pink material, and it came as part of a gift set. I find myself able to fit the cosmetics I use on a daily basis in this bag.

At Base

It’s taken me more than a few years to figure out what base products are right for me. I like a flawless, airbrushed base that also has an intense coverage factor to it. I’ve had quite a few problems with my skin including acne, blackheads/pores, hyperpigmentation, discolouration and redness.

Basically, I’ve tried and tested a gigantic amount of foundations and concealers, and only now have I found something that actually makes me relax because my skin looks flawless.

My number 1 go-to foundation is the Inglot HD Foundation, a new Inglot product, and I’m in love with it.

It gives great coverage but does not make you feel as if you have painted your face in a mask. It’s actually quite light, compared to other foundations I used to wear. The HD Foundation (which I wear in shade 71 as I’m pale) has the most divine scent in the world.

The holy grail concealer I keep with me 24/7 is the Make Up For Ever Full Coverage Waterproof concealer. This is an extreme camouflage cream, and they don’t lie when they use the word extreme. I’m totally in love. I apply this with a Beautyblender to get that extra hold for the long days.

Light & Dark

I’m a huge fan of highlighting and contouring. When it comes to having something easy to use, I definitely have to go for a powder; preferably a MAC blush powder.

I always keep my MAC Harmony or Baby Don’t Go powder in my beauty bag, along with the MAC 168 angled brush. This is such an easy, yet gorgeous way to contour and I fangirl about it.

For highlight, I do like to use a powder also, but sometimes a liquid highlighter is necessary. Basically, it’s either MAC Soft & Gentle Mineralize Skinfinish Powder, or Buff Makeup Sheer Glo liquid highlighter in the shade Movie Star.

I like to warm my cheeks with a blush but only very lightly along with the contour. My favourite blushers would be either MAC Peaches blush powder or Benefit Coralista.

Addicted to Eyes

During the daytime, especially at work, I don’t like to use dark colours on my eyes or shimmers really, either. I use one or two matte shadows on my eyes every day, generally using the same shade on my lid & on my lower lash line, and then mixing it up on my crease.

These are the shadows you’ll find in my beauty bag: Urban Decay Tease or Riff, MAC Kid, Espresso or Embark, and also pretty much all the lighter shadows in the AYU 16 shade eyeshadow palette (which neatly fits inside my beauty bag).

As for eyeliner, I don’t wear this everyday (anymore..) as I like the look of more neutral eyes in the daytime with the right shadows. But when I do wear it, I always wear Inglot AMC Gel liner in shade 77. I apply this with my AYU Pro Liner brush. And for my waterline, it’s usually white or black (Inglot Soft Precision Liner or Lancome).

My new favourite mascara is the Benefit Roller Lash, but I do, however, still absolutely adore MAC Play Lash mascara. This gives such a gorgeous length to your lashes and has a thinner, more delicate application wand.

And for my brows, I always go to Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in the shade Ebony (with an angled brush).

Besos Lips

I love lipsticks and lipliners but I don’t really use lipgloss, as I find it too sticky and prefer a matte lip anyhow. Right now, I keep one lipstick and one lipliner in my beauty bag and they both come out of my lipstick drawer.

MAC Lipliners are to-die-for, and my favourites have to be the shades Whirl, Stripdown, Plum, and Stone.

I always pair these up with lipsticks such as MAC Honey Love or Myth, or Nyx Matte Nude lipstick. I am such a fan of nude lips! For darker lips, I like to use lipsticks like MAC Verve or Ruby Woo.
