Make sure your crowning glory is looking its best with the Her.ie guide to the best hairstyles to suit your lovely face.

If your face is… Round Shaped

With a round shaped face the aim is usually to add length without adding width. Long and straight styles with layers work well, and you can afford to add some height at the crown too. Fringes are best kept wispy, long and to the side. Be careful with bobs, as chin length hair can emphasise a fuller face.

If your face is… Heart Shaped

If you want a fringe keep it to a side one, as full straight fringes will only make the face appear shorter and wider. Avoid height on the top too – put down that backcombing brush! Long loose soft curls work well on those with heart-shaped faces, creating width around the narrow chin.

If your face is… Oval Shaped

You, lucky lady, are a hairdressers dream. There is pretty much no style you cannot wear, so have fun experimenting with shapes and styles. One tip though is to keep hair off that lovely face shape, so avoid heavy fringes. Play with volume depending on what part of your face you want to highlight.

If your face is… Long Shaped

The aim here is to balance out the face, so long and straight styles with no fringe are a bad idea. Avoid height on top also. A thick fringe can look very feminine and disguise a long forehead, while layered styles will add body, particularly if you wear your hair wavy.

If your face is… Square Shaped

Part of having a square shaped face is a strong jawline, so you should be looking for styles to soften that area. Blunt cuts around the jawline are definitely to be avoided, as are heavy fringes and center partings. Soft layers in medium-length hair will take the emphasis away from a strong jaw.
