Nothing beats a lovely soak in a soapy tub after a long day at the office or a hectic weekend socialising

Immersing your body in water is somewhat therapeutic and benefits your body in so many ways so it is important that you treat yourself to a long luxurious soak every now and again. Here’s our tips to achieve the perfect bath.

Make Time For Your Bath

Bath-time is an opportunity for you to wind down after a stressful day so it is important to give yourself enough time to enjoy it. Before you fill the tub, ask your housemates or your family if they need to use the bathroom before you go in there for your bath. This will help you avoid interruption from those who need to pee just when you have submerged yourself in the water.

Take a bath when you know you will have the time to enjoy it, and give yourself 30 minutes to an hour to really get the most out of your bath.

It is important to set aside 30-60 minutes for your relaxing bath

Use Scented Bath Oil

Adding scented oils to your hot tub can instantly add a luxurious quality to your bath. Oils scented with lavender, jasmine, iris and rose can help you relax quicker and ease away your stress. Add the oil to the bath when it is halfway full to ensure that the oil is distributed throughout the water. The scent of the oil will help create an atmosphere and don’t forget to light a few candles to finish off your bath environment.

Have Your Bath at the Right Temperature

A scalding hot bath is not ideal and it will instantly make your skin pink and irritable. The water should be hot to touch but not so hot that it is uncomfortable to be in. Test the temperature with your wrist as this is the best way to establish what temperature is right for you.

Music

While we wouldn’t recommend that you bring your iPod into the tub relaxing music can be good to help you relax and ease you into a comfort zone. Choose soft tunes rather than loud and overpowering songs. Classical music can be a good cloice of music for bath time.

Listening to music in your bath can help with the relaxation process

Amuse Yourself

It can be difficult to relax and sit put in a bath tub when your mind is so busy throughout the day so busying yourself in the tub for the first few minutes can be helpful when it comes to relaxing. The bath is the ideal place to exfoliate your feet, calves and thighs and the task will help you relax into your bath. Removing your dead skin will leave your body supple and moist.

Close Your Eyes

Closing your eyes will help your body wind down and it is easy to get distracted. If you are finding it difficult to keep your eyes closed prepare some cucumber slices or some lukewarm teabags to treat your eyes and keep them closed at the same time!

Cold Water

Sometimes the heat of the bath and the steam can leave us flustered so it is a nice idea to keep a bowl of cold water and a wash cloth beside the bath in case you feel the need to dab your neck and face. Keep a bottle of water beside you also to keep yourself hydrated.

Finish with a Fluffy Towel or Robe

The worst thing you can do after a bath is wrap yourself up in a dinky towel or a ripped bathrobe. Invest in some fluffy towels to enhance your bath experience and allow you to continue the luxury, even after you’ve left the tub.

Make sure you have clean and fluffy towels to finish off your bath on a good note
