Five Ways to Make Your Foundation Last Longer

Foundation really is the base of your makeup so the last thing you want is for it to come off half way through the day. Find out how to make it last longer right here...

Every woman knows what it’s like to spend time in the morning putting on foundation to find that by lunchtime it’s all come off.

But there are ways of preventing this from happening. All you need are the right products, the right tools and a bit of self-discipline!

1. Choose the correct foundation – Before you even put a drop of foundation on your face, you need to know that you’re using the right foundation for your skin type. If you have oily skin, you need a foundation that is designed to combat the oil, not one that will end up running off your face. Those with dry skin need a foundation that will moisturise, not flake. 2. Put on something underneath – Primer is the best product to put on underneath your foundation because it not only helps to even out your skin but it also saves on the amount of foundation you actually use. It works in the same way as a base coat does for your nail polish. If you don’t fancy a primer, you should put on moisturiser before putting on your foundation. Again it will give your skin an even finish and help your foundation to glide on.

3. Finish it off with powder – If you use a cream or liquid foundation, you can use a dry powder to hold it in place. All you have to do is sweep it on after you apply your foundation. Powder gives your look a more matte finish and you can also use it to top up your makeup throughout the day.

4. Use a brush to put it on – Using a makeup brush can make all the difference to your makeup application. A brush will work the foundation into your skin ten times better than your fingertips ever will. It also achieves a better finish with less product. Makeup brushes don’t absorb as much product as your fingers do which saves you time washing your hands and money buying foundation.

5. Keep your hands by your side – More often than not, the weather and sweat is to blame for your foundation coming off but sometimes your own hands can be. During the day, you will inevitably touch your face after a stressful meeting or lean on your hands during a boring one which isn’t good if you want long-lasting foundation. If you’re not up for tying your hands down by your side, you’ll just have to rely on your willpower!

So say goodbye to foundation frustration and say hello to flawless foundation.
