Grey’s Anatomy fans are furious after the latest twist with Amelia.
The long-running medial drama’s fall finale aired in the United States earlier this week, and there was a lot going on (including the introduction of Dr. Cormac Hayes).
But there was one moment in particular that fans were really not happy with.
Warning: The rest of this story contains spoilers for Grey’s Anatomy’s midseason finale.
For the last little while, Amelia Shepherd has been in a happy – and very adorable – relationship with Atticus Lincoln. The pair are even expecting their first child together, so it should be happy times all around.
Key phrase: should be.
In the last few moments of the midseason finale, Amelia is getting an ultrasound when she finds out she is further along in the pregnancy than she thought.
“Everything fine?” Amelia asks the doctor doing the ultrasound.
“Perfectly fine,” she assures her. “But you’re not 20 weeks pregnant… You’re 24.”
“No, that’s not possible… Because that could mean – oh god. No,” Amelia replies, coming to the realisation that that means the father of her baby could be her ex, Owen Hunt.
And given the fact that he’s not exactly the most popular doctor in Grey Sloan Memorial at the moment, fans were less than impressed.
