Netflix has released the first look at Stranger Things‘ third season – but some fans are really, really unhappy about one thing in particular.
The very retro-looking teaser for the Duffer brothers’ sci-fi series debuted on Monday afternoon, showing off a new setting and hinting at a release date for the hotly anticipated third season.
The short clip serves as an advertisement for Starcourt Mall in Hawkins, Indiana, which is due to open (in the world of the show) in the summer of 1985.
And for such a short preview, there’s a lot to unpack in less than a minute and a half.
After announcing many of the stores in the mall – like The Gap, Waldenbooks, Sam Goody, Claire’s – we get a glimpse of Steve Harrington at his new summer job at the Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream Shop.
There’s also a brief look at series newcomer Robin, played by Maya Hawke, who plays Steve’s co-worker.
But it was the last few seconds of the promo for the mall that left fans really unhappy.
Namely, the fact that it says the mall is coming ‘next summer’ – which many took to mean that there will be no new Stranger Things until summer 2019 (and, lets face it, they’re probably right).
But wait! @avery__thompson just pointed out that the very end, the video says: "starcourt mall, coming next summer" — DO I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SUMMER 2019 FOR S3 @Stranger_Things ??? pic.twitter.com/IB0UAHbUH9

I can’t with that Stranger Things 3 teaser. A small part of Steve’s soul died when he said “Ahoy”. I can’t believe they are making us wait until summer of 2019 to see this show.
