The incident happened in 2020.

A woman who was left unable to speak or walk after she was kidnapped by her former boyfriend has defied the odds in taking her first steps.

The now 22-year-old, Angel Lynn, suffered severe brain damage after escaping her former boyfriend Chay Bowskill in September 2020 when she was forced from a van he had kidnapped her in, falling headfirst at 60 miles per hour.

Her mum has now said that she hopes she will start to speak again soon after progressing so much in her recovery.

In September 2020, Chay Bowskill forced his girlfriend, Angel Lynn, into a van driven by his friend, Rocco Sansome.

While speeding down the A6 near Loughborough, Lynn fell out of the van and suffered serious injuries. She has since been left unable to talk, walk or feed herself.

At the time, Bowskill was handed a seven-and-a-half year jail sentence. This has since been reviewed by the Court of Appeal and increased to 16 years and three months, The Guardian reports.

His accomplice, Sansome, who had driven the car, was also found guilty of kidnapping and was sentenced to 21 months in prison. His sentence remains unchanged.

Speaking to The Sun about her daughter’s condition, Nikki Lynn said: “She is communicating more and more. I know it won’t change things but I’m hoping one day she will speak and tell me what happened.

“I do think she was pushed because of the injuries she suffered, the force with which she hit the ground.”

Angel is currently making huge strides in the rehab unit but details of her progress can’t be fully disclosed for safety reasons.

Angel is able to communicate with an iPad and according to her mum, she has said that she wants a “grey Audi,” as well as being able to give a thumbs up and down and high fives.

Lynn’s case originally gained widespread attention after CCTV footage was released online showing the moment the abduction occurred.

Lynn’s family have been sharing updates about her condition on a Facebook group called Supporting Angel’s Recovery.

There is a documentary airing on Channel 4 at 9 pm tonight which will look into her recovery and the tragic circumstances that led to Angel being left in this position.
