WATCH: Journalist walks off Sky News set over presenters playing down LGBT link to Orlando Shooting

"I find this the most astonishing thing I've been involved in on television."

Laura Holland

A journalist walked off set on a live broadcast on Sky News.

Owen Jones joined presenters Mark Longhurst and Julia Hartley-Brewer on Sky News to talk about the Orlando Shooting. The debate got heated and resulted in Owen walking off set.

He was pointing out that the main part that people should be focusing on, when it comes to the tragedy in Orlando, is that it was a hate crime against gay people.

But Mark and Julia didn’t necessarily agree and believed that it can’t be said for sure that he was intentionally trying to murder gay people, saying the crime was carried out against “human beings” who were “trying to enjoy themselves, whatever their sexuality.”

Having heard enough Owen said, “I’m sorry, I just find this the most astonishing thing I’ve ever been involved in on television. If he walked into a synagogue and massacred dozens of Jewish people, you wouldn’t be saying what you’re saying now.

“You would be talking about it as an anti-semitic attack. This was a deliberate attack on LGBT people.”

They continued to get their points across before Owen had finally had enough and walked off set.
