Two have been feared dead following a flight due to land in Scotland.
Yesterday, two people left Derry airport set on a trip tracked for Stanraer.
According to RTÉ, the Coastguard in Belfast confirmed debris from the missing aircraft was found near Glenarm in Co. Antrim.
A search of the sea, air and land was launched to find the missing pair, with a yacht who later joined the search eventually finding the wreckage.
Duty controller with the British Coastguard, James Instance told of how the foggy weather hindered the search:
“The weather has caused problems for the search operation.
“However, we have drawn up an extensive search and rescue plan which will be put into action today.”
The families of the two missing people have been alerted and consoled by the police.
