Eyewitness to the Nice attack gives heartbreaking account of what she saw

"These images will stay with me until the end of my life."

Laura Holland

This is truly awful.

While the world reels after the news from Bastille Day in France when a lorry driver purposefully drove into a crowd of spectators, watching the annual fireworks display, killing 84, further information and accounts of the attack have emerged.

One eyewitness, Albina Kichuk, has spoken about what she saw when the attack took place just 10 metres away from her. She posted a video to Instagram shortly after the attack took place where she described what she saw, how it has affected her and what it will be like for her in the future.

She was speaking in Russian but Sky News has translated what she said and shared her video on YouTube.

In the video, she says:

“Tomorrow it will be all over the news, but let me tell you what I saw today. Today, France has been celebrating Bastille Day and the French people will remember this day for a very long time because everyone who was out on the street celebrating the holiday stood and witnessed a lorry driving into people and people getting shot.

I was about 10 metres away and these images will stay with me until the end of my life. I will never again go out into a crowd like that. I will just sit at home and be haunted by this.

Tomorrow we’ll know how many head there will be… enough.”
