Tributes have been pouring in for the late David Bowie from fans all around the world, and many have been congregating outside his New York apartment laying flowers and notes.
One such fan is our own Glen Hansard, who delivered an impromptu performance of Bowie’s 1980 hit Ashes To Ashes.
Hansard told Rolling Stone of his great admiration for the late singer and how he transgressed social norms: “He told us we didn’t have to be masculine to attract girls.
“He told us we could be strange, and even celebrate it. He was so much more than his music.
He described Bowie as: “…a signpost for our growth and boldness.”
