Music to our Ears – Our Top 5 Gigs for July

July is shaping up to be an epic month for Irish gigs with lots of global stars getting in to rock our world. Here’s the top five July gigs that have us giddy with excitement!

Rebecca McKnight

July 7th – Swedish House Mafia

Forget Miami to Ibiza, we’re all about Stockholm to Dublin on July 7th when Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso jet in to play the Phoenix Park. And as if the men behind monster hits like ‘Save The World’ weren’t enough, they’ll be ably assisted by Snoop Dogg, Tinie Tempah, Calvin Harris and The Original Rudeboys. Pack your dancing shoes.

July 8th – Florence & The Machine/Snow Patrol

Any chance the nice people looking after the Phoenix Park will let us sleep there for a few hours after SHM et al? We won’t be going too far anyway, because just one day later it’s Her.ie favourite Florence & The Machine sharing a bill with our very own Snow Patrol. Chill and sway to ‘Chasing Cars’, then go absolutely bonkers for ‘Dog Days Are Over’. Best of both worlds!

July 12th /13th – Paul Simon

Excited does not even begin to cover this one. The legendary Paul Simon kicks off a month long European tour in Dublin’s O2 on July 12th, a series of gigs set to include a performance of his masterpiece 1986 album ‘Graceland’. Twenty-five years after it won the ‘Best Album’ Grammy, new fans all over the world are falling in love with ‘Graceland’, and we cannot wait to see it performed live.

July 17th/18th – Bruce Springsteen

The kind of gig we could go to with our fellas or our parents, The Boss is an artist who crosses generations We weren’t actually born when he was singing about being ‘Born To Run’ back in 1975, but we’ll be singing our hearts out to that one, and all the while we’ll secretly be hoping we get pulled on stage a la Courtney Cox for ‘Dancing In The Dark’.

July 24th – Madonna

Her performance at the Superbowl earlier this year reminded us why Madonna is magic on a stage. This July she’ll no doubt perform tracks from her current album MDNA on stage at the Aviva, but it’s the back catalogue that has us most excited. Definitely a gig to head to with the girls, get your Vogue on and bring your best moves for classics like ‘Like A Prayer’.
