It might sound a little bizarre but marrying herself is what made Grace Gedler happy.
Grace, who had been single for six years, decided to propose to herself last November in North London.
She then walked down the aisle in March this year, in front of her close family and friends and for the all-important kiss, the bit that seals the deal, Grace kissed a mirror.
In conversation with The Guardian, Grace said that she was inspired by the Bjokr song Isobel which includes the lyrics “my name’s Isobel, married to myself”.
Grace made reference to the fact that some people might think her idea is a little self-indulgent saying: “A few did comment, in a light-hearted way, that it was a bit narcissistic.
“Obviously, if you have just announced you’re marrying yourself, it is plainly a statement of self-love, and I was under no illusion how self-indulgent that might appear”.
However, she decided to go through with the ceremony and is now happily married to herself.
