Audiences in America have reportedly been furnished with a translation sheet for Irish slang while attending the play The Seafarer in Connecticut.

The play, written by playwright Conor McPherson, is set in a Dublin suburb on Christmas Eve and has been nominated for a number of Tony Awards.

Theatre-goers are handed this leaflet.

However, those attending the play in the States were given a leaflet to help them figure out what is being said throughout, including translating phrases such as “guts for garters” and “having the craic”
