PIC: “You Look Weird. Are You Sick Or Something?” – Barbie Without Make Up Causes A Stir

Previously we’ve seen Barbie dolls recreated to looks slightly different. However it was makeup free Barbie that sparked a debate amongst woman about the comments they’re subjected to when they decide to go barefaced.

Almost 600 comments were posted; the majority shared the same sentiment.

Here are just a few of the messages from the thread:

“So f***ing true. Skip eyeliner once in a while and suddenly everyone thinks you’re ill.

This is why I never wear make up. Set the bar low and any effort on my part to decorate my face makes a huge difference. Down side is, I don’t wear make up so I’m not practiced at applying it.

Oh God, this. What if I actually felt pretty and comfortable with make-up on because I don’t look ill and tired? And then guys say “Oh but you look so PRETTY without make-up!” … Sigh. 

The Barbie in the imgur picture doesn’t have sufficiently-dark bags under the eyes. It really should show very dark bags, plus some zits and other spots on her face. Throw in some creases near the nose and crows-feet at the eyes too.

(As a girl who is a makeup addict), it goes back to the “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything.” If you want to compliment a girl that’s not wearing makeup, obviously no one will be offended by that. But “you look like you’re sick” isn’t particularly flattering. It’s kind of like asking someone if they’re pregnant. Just not a great idea.”[SIC]
