It’s the Tinder dream.
You’re sitting there, flicking through the app when you spot someone you find attractive.
You swipe right and then by some miracle, you’ve a new match on Tinder.
That was the fate for a fair few men, try thousands, who matched with 25-year old Ava at SXSW this week.
According to AdWeek, Ava was the girl of many men’s dreams, and when one man Brock made a connection with the girl, he was thrilled to find they actually started talking:
For Brock, the conversation couldn’t go any better… until this happened:
When Brock checked out Ava’s Instagram profile there was a problem…
There was only one picture on the profile. For a film’s US premiere taking place at the SXSW festival in Austin that evening:
The marketing stunt was all a ploy to get people talking about the new ex-Machina film.
Similar to Brock’s tale, the film follows a young coder who’s selected to take part in an experiment in artificial intelligence by evaluating the human qualities of a beautiful love machine called Ava.
And the profile picture?
Well that’s the Swedish actress Alicia Vikander who plays Ava in the film.
Ok, it’s a little harsh… but it’s definitely one way to drum up some attention for a new film.
