A family in Kailua, Hawaii, are pursuing legal action after the death of their three-year-old daughter following complications during a visit to the dentist.

Finley Boyle suffered brain damage after undergoing four root canals at Island Dentistry for Children on 3rd December. The little girl had been in a coma since the procedure and died on Friday night.

According to court documents the toddler, who was accompanied by her Mum, Ashley, was sedated under several when she went into cardiac arrest.

Sky News reports that the lawsuit also made claims that Finley was left unattended for 26 minutes without CPR, leading to extensive brain damage.

Her family have said they will file a wrongful death lawsuit against the Honolulu dentist.

The Boyle family attorney, Rick Fried, told KHON-TV  that the incident was “tragic” and little girl passed away accompanied by her parents.

“Well, it was tragic. I got a call last night that Finley had passed. Her parents were with her. Family had flown in from the Mainland,” Fried said.

Finley died at Hospice Hawaii’s home in Kailua just after 8.45pm on Friday night.

“And I think the parents felt that Finley wouldn’t want to live. I don’t think anyone of us would. She didn’t know she was alive basically,” Fried added.
