Bride-to-be seeks legal advice after prenup states she has to lose two stone after giving birth

“My fiancé put a few odd clauses in our prenup…”

A woman is seeking legal advice after receiving a prenuptial agreement from her husband-to-be stating that she has to lose “any weight I gain after childbirth, at least 30lbs.”

Writing on Reddit, the woman said that her fiancé had included some clauses in the document that she found strange, including an infidelity clause.

He also promised her a “chunk of money” for every child she has.

“If I cheat on him, I walk away with basically nothing,” she said.

“Along with that, he put in a clause that stated that I have to lose any weight I gain after child birth, at least 30lbs of it (…)

“The oddest of them all to me is the compensation for children clause. I am not sure if I interpreted this correctly so anyone may correct me, but in the prenup my fiancé mentioned that for every child I have for him, I get a chunk of money, which to me doesn’t sound legal but maybe it is?”

She concluded her post by asking whether any of these clauses would stand up in court.

She also added that her fiancé’s father, who is a lawyer, had gone through the prenup with her, but that she didn’t entirely trust his judgement.

Many of the comments soliciting relationship advice had been removed as the woman had posted her query in Reddit’s legal advice thread.

Those that remained suggested that she hire her own lawyer before signing any agreement and, as one person so aptly offered, “you know… don’t marry this guy.”
