Yes, using Facebook to let all your mates know about an upcoming gathering certainly takes a lot of the hassle and expense out of contacting them individually.
But you’d want to be damn sure of who it is you trust online, as yet another ‘Project X’-style party hit Dublin over the weekend.
Late last night Twitter was flooded with comments on ‘Project X Swords’, where around 700 people are reported to have shown up to the house of a 15 year old youth who decided to have a few close friends over for a little party on Friday night.
It may go without saying at this point, but the house is reported to be in a pretty bad state, with revelers stealing the front door to the house, thrashing the inside and dismantling the bannisters on the stairs.
It’s the latest in a long line of planned ‘low-key’ gatherings to get hijacked after a careless social media post, and we can’t imagine the poor chap at the centre of it all will be doing any partying at all for the foreseeable future…
Videos of the event have reportedly been removed from YouTube.
The ‘Project X’ moniker comes from the 2012 movie which sees 3 high school seniors throw a birthday party to make a name for themselves. As the night progresses, word of the party spreads and the gathering spirals out of control.
