Beauty Kate Beckinsale Thinks New Moms Are Under Too Much Pressure to Lose Weight

The Total Recall actress thinks new mothers should not feel pressured to fit back into those jeans right after having a baby.

Actress Kate Beckinsale said there is too much pressure on new mothers to lose their baby weight quickly.

The Everybody’s Fine actress said that it is not healthy for moms to shed the pounds within weeks of giving birth.

“Pregnancy changes a woman’s body and should. It isn’t normal to not look like you’ve had a baby immediately after you’ve had a baby,” she said.

Beckinsale has a thirteen-year-old daughter, Lily, with former partner Michael Sheen spoke about her weight issues following the birth of her baby.

“I was gigantic after I had Lily – I put on a good 3-and-a-half stone, and it didn’t go ’til I stopped breast feeding. I was lucky that Britain wasn’t so paparazzi-orientated [then].

“I was allowed to get on with it and enjoy my baby – and figure out what being a mother was all about instead of worrying about [fitting into] my f**king jeans,” she said.

Earlier this week the thirty-eight-year-old star spoke about possibly having another child with her husband Len Wiseman.

”There’s absolutely part of me that goes, ‘I’d love to have a baby in the relationship I’m in, and have that experience when the relationship’s really good and exclusive,’ but I’m just not sure.

“At some point the decision will be made for me, when my ovaries dry up and die. We’ll see. There’s nothing that makes me go, ‘And now I must have triplets,” she said.

Beckinsale returns to the big screen in August when she stars along side Colin Farrell in a remake of nineties classic Total Recall.
