Kourtney Kardashian criticises reality show for portraying her ‘toxic’ relationship

She broke the fourth wall.

Kourtney Kardashian has criticised her new reality show The Kardashians, saying she’s been left feeling “annoyed” at the editing.

She made the comments during Thursday’s episode, while speaking to her friend Stephanie Shepard over lunch.

“Editors or whoever are taking it as, let’s take Kourtney as the chosen one to be the drama,” she said.

The 43-year-old, who recently married Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, said she felt like her and her husband are being “swirled in drama” surrounding her ex, Scott Disick.

In a recent episode documenting the day Travis proposed to her, Kendall had asked Kourtney if she had any sympathy for Scott.

Referring to this particular scene, Kourtney said: “I didn’t even remember it until I saw the cut of the episode.

“It’s enabling this old narrative and buying into something that doesn’t really exist. It should be an empowering episode about me getting out of toxic relationships and having this fairytale love story that is my reality.

“I wish they would take that out and put it in the next episode and give us our respect… let us have our moment.”

Her friend Stephanie responded: “This story for you is you were in a s**t relationship and now you’re in a great one. The great one should be focused on.

“If I were someone watching the show, I would obviously be asking those same questions like, ‘what’s Scott going to say?’ I understand that’s a normal thought.

“But I think we were talking about, out of respect for Travis and you being able to come out of that place in your life, I don’t want to harp on this storyline anymore.”

Kourtney added: “We’ve been broken up for seven years. I’m allowed to create new memories and new ways of doing things.”

She later added to cameras: “We are all executive producers, so we get to see cuts of the show and give notes on episodes and make sure that our stories are being told.

“I’m in one of the best places I’ve ever been in my life and it’s time for our show to catch up.”
